R.I.P. Effects Man Benoit Lestang

Benoit Lestang, R.I.P.It always pains me to have to do a story about a horror personality who is no longer with us, but it’s that much worse when the person is gone of their own hand. Such was the case with French effects man Benoit Lestang, who reportedly committed suicide over the weekend.

His name may not be too familiar to you, but his work certainly is. Lestang was the lead effects artist on films ranging from Tell No One to City of Lost Children; from Brotherhood of the Wolf to The Diving Bell and Butterfly and most recently he did the effects for the French horror film Martyrs.

We here at Dread are sad to see him go and offer up our best wishes to Benoit’s friends and family.

Damn shame.

That's one less of us and one more of them.

Restez en paix Monsieur Lestang

Damn, the man was a good artist... His loss will be very felt in French horror cinema.
