Psycho Legacy Doc Rolls

The Psycho Legacy doc ready to rollIt seems the new, hip thing for us horror freaks to do is take it upon ourselves to come up with the kind of documentary we all wish the studios would put together. First there was Beware the Moon, focusing on the phenomenon that is An American Werewolf in London, now the guys from Icons of Fright are out to produce the be-all, end-all Psycho documentary.

The doc is called The Psycho Legacy and will chronicle everything from Robert Bloch’s original novel through the Innovation comic book series up to Psycho IV: The Beginning. It’s all being done independently, aka without the help of rights owner Universal (just like Beware the Moon!) which will hopefully lead to a better documentary than some studio producer would have come up with.

Interviews so far are arranged with Mick Garris (director of Psycho IV), Hatchet director Adam Green, Tom Holland (writer of Psycho II) and a lot more. You see the intention is to cover not just those who helped make the movies, but also those who have been influenced by it in their own careers.

If you have something you think you could contribute, be it old studio shots or copious amounts of cash, be sure to check out The Psycho Legacy’s MySpace page to get in touch with the guys behind the project. We’ll keep you updated on it as we learn more!
