Polo, Bennett Join The Hole

Teri Polo cast in Dante's The Hole! Casting is already going down for Joe Dante’s upcoming 3D supernatural thriller, The Hole, which you may recall Dante said he’ll be tackling next before possibly moving on to Bat Out of Hell. THR learned this morning that Meet the Parents/Fockers star Teri Polo has signed on for Dante’s Hole.

That sounded dirtier than I meant it to. Feel free to giggle. Polo will play a mother who moves with her teenage son into a rural house where they soon discover a bottomless hole in their basement that's home to their deepest fears. Isn’t that the sort of thing a real estate agent is legally obligated to tell potential buyers about?

Haley Bennett (The Haunting of Molly Hartley) has also joined The Hole, playing a neighbor who finds one of the sons attractive. Bad choice, darling! Shooting begins on December 5th in Vancouver.

Weinsteins Plan Massive Direct to Video Library
We’re now officially at the stage where anything you see in our genre that comes out from The Weinstein Co. or Dimension Extreme, you can expect some kind of prequel or sequel to it within a short window of time. Variety reports this morning that the Weinsteins have just greenlighted a batch of 18 direct-to-video pics for release in 2009.
