Park's Vampire Tale Goes to France
Over the weekend The Hollywood Reporter had some good news and more plot details for Chan-Wook Park’s upcoming vampire movie, Bakjwi, which of course came from the madness of AFM. That explains why we missed it till now...
Seems the film has been pre-sold to France’s Wild Side by Korean CJ Entertainment though that doesn’t mean it’s going to be making its way to the States any sooner, nor does it explain why a deal wasn’t struck with a U.S. distributor. But hey, it's being pre-sold, which is always a good sign! Park is set to begin shooting the film this spring with a Korean release expected at the end of 2008.
The story, which we finally have a bit more clarification on, will follow a priest (The Host star Song Kang-ho, pictured) who, due to a failed medical experiment, both becomes a vampire and strikes up an affair with the wife of his childhood friend. Sounds like a pretty messy love triangle right off the bat, no?
No English title has been chosen yet either, so for now we’ll have to refer to it as Bakjwi until something better comes along. Keep it here for updates!
Let Park take his revenge on you in the Dread Central forums!
