Painkiller for Theaters

Painkiller headed to cinemasHaving never played the game myself, I can’t say for sure whether or not this is horror news, but any time you have the powers of good and evil at battle, an interesting story is bound to come out of it.

Daily Variety got word this morning that Guy Walks Into a Bar, apparently the name of a real production company (they produced Elf among others), has snagged the rights to the PC game Painkiller about a man stranded between heaven and hell who becomes a pawn in their eternal struggle. The first game showed up in 2004 with Painkiller: Hell Wars (now that’s a cool title) arriving last year.

Newcomer Ben McCaw has been brought on board by Guy Walks Into a Bar to pen the film’s screenplay, but no director’s been named as of yet. It should be mentioned this is the first time DreamCatcher Interactive has sold one of its titles for film adaptation, which I’m willing to bet will be a trend over the coming months.
