New School is Haunted
Books-to-film is a far more acceptable action via a studio than a remake. Think about how many good books (no, not Twilight) are sitting out there just waiting for a creative team to bring them to life! Oh, the never ending pain we must endure!
Satan heard our cries and so it came to be that Fight Club Chuck Palahniuk's own unique style of horror storytelling, Haunted (review), will be making its way to the big screen thanks to a newly formed production company, New School Media.
Variety is reporting the adaptation's pick up about a group of high school kids confined in a reality show-like game where "the host withholds heat, power and food. As the storytellers grow more desperate they ruthlessly plot to make themselves the hero of the reality show or film that they expect will be made from their plight."
Cast and crew have yet to be announced.

Some very good news for all you out there chomping at the bit for Trick ‘r Treat updates: The film just nabbed itself the Audience Choice Award at this year’s Screamfest! ”Not bad for a flick that doesn't even have a release date,” director Mike Dougherty commented. ”It's the little horror movie that could!”

Sadly, I've never gotten around to reading that one. I'm ashamed to admit it, but it's true.
