Coffin Joe LIVES! (click to see it bigger!)Hungry for more news about Coffin Joe’s return to the big screen? You should be. Co-writer of the new film, Dennison Ramalho, updated his official Embodiment of Evil blog with some some news from the film’s first ever showing!

Roughly transalted from the site — The Embodiment of Evil had its first public exhibition on the 11th of June as part of the Festival Paulínia de Cinema. As expected, the movie and its cast and crew were met with thunderous applause and the warmest reception imaginable from fans and industry folks in attendance.

“During one of the most cathartic sequences of torture, the audience broke up in howls and applause!” Ramalho tells Dread. “The theater (1,350 seats!!! Never seen such a huge theater!!!) was packed and became a raving madhouse before, during and after the premiere!”

Now that’s what we like to hear!

To celebrate the August 8th opening of the movie, Coffin Joe, aka Zé do Caixão, himself has recorded a special commercial that’s being run on Portuguese television that basically threatens those that dare not attend the film with a foul plague. While I’m not entirely sure what else he’s saying, fuck, dude, I’m scared! You just have to love it!

You can check that out below, and don’t forget to dig on Ray Castile’s Coffin Joe short film here if you haven’t already!

Stay tuned for more on The Embodiment of Evil as we get it!
