Myriad Still Has Mother

Just a follow up to the last story we did on Mother of Tears (“Weinsteins Find a Mother” – September 2007), the folks at The Hollywood Reporter have confirmation that the Brothers Wein actually have all the release rights for Argento’s latest except theatrical, which are still being handled by Myriad Pictures.

Myriad will do a limited run with Mother of Tears in North America sometime next year, followed by a (hopefully stacked) DVD release via Genius Products, who distribute all the Weinstein Co.’s films for home video.

Either way we all win. This means we don’t have to wait forever for the new Argento film to see the light of day here when Dimension adopts their usual “sit and wait” release mentality; we’ll get to see it in an arthouse run (the best way to see Argento) and then a shiny, well-distributed DVD.
