Messengers Re-shooter Revealed

The boys over at Bloody Disgusting got the word this weekend regarding the identity of the mystery man behind the new footage for The Messengers, which you’ll hopefully recall went back in front of the cameras a few weeks ago to up the horror. Turns out the director shooting this new footage is Curandero helmer Eduardo Rodriguez.

That’s all well and good, but who here actually remembers Curandero? I know I do simply because it was written by Robert Rodriguez (no relation) and has received high praise from the small group who have seen it, which I am not among. Though it still doesn’t have distribution here in the States, maybe this incident will push it out to the right people.

Rodriguez has also been attached to direct an adaptation of the Clive Barker short “Dread” for Fox, which we recently discovered is back in the works again with a new treatment being worked out by Adam Gierasch and Jace Anderson, screenwriters on Dario Argento’s Mother of Tears, among others (the first was written by “Cigarette Burns” penners Drew McWeeny and Scott Swan). There’s no word on how close to a reality the new version is, but you’ll know more as we squeeze our resources for info!
