Mendez Talks Toolbox 2
Word got out through the various cool stuff at this year’s AFM (American Film Market) that a sequel to Tobe Hooper’s The Toolbox Murders was in the works through PFG Entertainment with The Convent and Grave Dancers helmer Mike Mendez in the director’s chair.
We dropped a line to Mike to see if we could confirm the rumors, and he confirmed that, like most things in Hollywood, it’s still up in the air. "It's not a definite thing, yet," he told Dread Central. "Adam Gierasch and Jace Anderson are writing the script. If it all comes out well and it's a respectable budget, then I think there will be serious power tool mayhem to be had."
Gierasch and Anderson, you may recall, penned the remake that Hooper did a while back, which earned him some long-lost respect among horror fans and most called a true return to the genre for the director. I’m sure Mendez could do some great things with a sequel if the stars algin right, so here’s hoping!
Mendez’ latest, The Grave Dancers, will be playing as part of the After Dark Horror Fest, more information on which is available right here!
Wish you could cause power tool mayhem in our forums!
NEXT STORY
With the AFM show in full swing, our man on the scene Andrew Kasch just called in with some interesting news. Clive Barker's short story "The Midnight Meat Train," which originally appeared in his Books of Blood anthology, has just hit the pre-production fast track with a brand spanking new director -- Ryuhei Kitamura.
