Since 1989 Jack Ketchum's book The Girl Next Door has been sending shivers of repulsion up the spines of genre readers. The film version is set to start lensing next month in New Jersey, and Fangoria got word today on some casting news.
Blythe Auffarth will play Meg, the much abused title character, along with Blanche (Sixteen Candles) Baker as the sadistic Aunt Ruth and fresh-faced Daniel Manche as David, the boy who befriends Meg and becomes a horrified witness to the tortures she suffers.
There's no doubt that the book is one of the most disturbing things ever to come to print, but I really have to wonder if the film adaptation will exhibit the same kind of balls. The smart money is on some watered down torture, but sickos like us can dream!
