Martyrs Director Officially in Talks for Hellraiser

Martyrs director on board Hellraiser redux!Well, it’s official; Martyrs helmer Pascal Laugier is in negotiations with Bob & Harvey Weinstein to write and direct the remake of Hellraiser, which you should recall was once in the hands of the French duo behind Inside before their take on the material proved too freaky.

"This is a dream project for me," Laugier told THR. "I know Clive Barker's work very well, and I would never betray what he has done. Fans are expecting a definitive Hellraiser, and I don't want to take that away from them."

That is awfully kind of him, but the problem is we fans know that if anyone’s going to take it away, it won’t be him. All we can do is hope that the Weinsteins have actually seen Martyrs and have at least a cursory idea of what they’re getting into by hiring Laugier to get behind this. Time will tell!

Considering that this is a remake, I sort of doubt we'll see Doug Bradley in this one. I wouldn't be surprised if the Weinstein's drop him for someone else.

An interesting choice, but if the last proposal was too much, what made the Weinsteins think that would be a safer proposition?

Meh, just do another new, GOOD Hellraiser movie. Last I saw, Doug Bradley looked and sounded like he could step back into the pins like nobody's business.

Oh man! I sure hope there's high school level philosophical discussion in the new Hellraiser!

"If I could make all my films from franchises, I would" So sayeth Bob Weinstein.

That's about all you need to read, I'd say.
