While Neil Marshall is putting the finishing touches on his next film, Doomsday, which I’m sure is going to blow us all away (check out our Comic Con interviews for a look at why), movement is still happening on The Descent 2 (which may or may not be replacing its “s” with a “2”), which, as we first told you back here, Marshall will not return to direct.
Fangoria got word from one of their UK correspondents, who was lucky enough to attend the recent Frightfest film festival, that a director has been chosen for the sequel, even though a script hasn’t been written yet. That director is Joe Harris, who will be making his directorial debut after serving editing duties on the first Descent as well as Snatch, Layer Cake and Stardust to name a few.
Hey, as long as they avoid the Hills Have Eyes 2 scenario of sending in the military to get rid of the underground menace, I’ll be there. It doesn’t hurt that Marshall also confirmed he will be involved with every aspect of the film, as well.
Keep it here for more as we learn it!
