Not a huge update, but make sure you have your calendars handy; we just got word from Rogue that the Last House on the Left redux will be hitting theaters on March 13th, 2009. Will it be as gritty and nasty as the original? Check out the trailer below and see if that helps answer the question...

Think about when the original actually came out, though. I saw it at a drive-in and it literally traumatized me. It felt dangerous. It felt wrong. It felt like a movie that wanted to hurt you. Watching those two girls being forced to piss themselves, watching them being humiliated, being tortured, and then being torn open and gutted on screen was a truly punishing experience the first time around. It was a film that wasn't playing by any kind of movie "rules" that I was used to at that time. It honestly seemed like some kind of snuff documentary. It was a confusing experience to see it in that context. It shook me, and many others, to our core. That's not just lip service, that's what it genuinely felt like. Just wanted to put it in it's original context.

Beautifully put, Franco. Not everyone got that experience, I sure didn't, which is why some people just can't appreciate what it was like when that movie originally came out. Nothing was like it at the time; now everything is, so I can't see how this can be anything other than a glossy retread with none of the impact.

I plan on seeing it on opening night. This looks so much better than the original (which I always thought was overrated).
