Magnet Unleashes Six Shooter Films
Magnet Films, the genre branch of Magnolia Pictures, have officially released the theatrical series they’re calling Six Shooter Films, ”six films from the vanguard of quality worldwide genre cinema”.
As has been reported before, Let the Right One In (review) will be the first of the six, opening in Los Angeles and New York on October 24th, 2008 with a regional expansion the following week. We’ll hopefully be able to garnish you with a full theatrical list as soon as one is settled upon; this is a film you don’t want to miss in theaters if you can avoid it.
November will see the release of the Michael Rappaport film Special, which has been floating out there for years, followed by Timecrimes (review) in December, Eden Log in January, Donkey Punch in February and Big Man Japan (review) in March.
Stay tuned for full release details on all six films (well, we might skip over Special) as they come in!

Those of you with cable (a number I blissfully don’t count myself among) will have a lot to look forward to from IFC in the coming months. An article in Variety today reports that London-based One-Eyed Films has just sold a nine-picture package to IFC containing all the Coffin Joe movies!
