Lincoln Dishes More Hack/Slash!
Though there’s no real new info to be had, anytime we can read about Todd Lincoln discussing his plans for the upcoming Hack/Slash feature film, which Rogue Pictures is fronting the money for, we want to make sure we pass it on to you guys.
In a recent chat with AICN, Lincoln revealed that the movie version of the Tim Seeley comic is going to be playing it much straighter than the comics do; "Tonally, the movie is much more grounded and serious than the comic," he told the site. "We’re playing this film straight, suspenseful, vicious and bloody. This is not a parody. This is not a self-aware, post-modern, campy retro-trip. The goal is to create something special. Not just a love letter to slasher films, but a film that reconstructs, reinvigorates and elevates the genre in the same way that Indiana Jones, Stars Wars, Terminator, Jaws, and Kill Bill did for their respective B-movie genres … We’re going to make the slasher film scary again."
That is no small order considering what it takes to scare the average horror fan these days, but Lincoln definitely sounds like he has the passion to make good on his promise.
Lincoln goes on to say that the script is done, production on Hack/Slash is "right where it should be" and the hope is to start shooting this Spring for a 2008 release date. Click here to read the entire interview, then be sure you visit Lincoln’s official site for more on the man!
