Laugier Focuses on Details

The latest guy attached to the Weinstein Company’s remake of Hellraiser, Martyrs director Pascal Laugier, has just signed on with Paramount Vantage to helm a movie called Details according to this morning’s Variety.

Based on a short story by China Mieville, Details tells of a boy, charged with caring for a mysterious old woman, [who] discovers that strange and frightening forces live hidden in the lines, cracks and creases of our world, though from the sounds of it, the character will be a girl in the movie. The story originally appeared in Mieville’s Looking for Jake anthology.

Laugier will be working with Blumhouse Productions on Details, which the trade mentions is also working on Paranormal Activity for Dreamworks. That might mean our hopes from a few days back that the Activity remake was DOA may have been unfounded, which would be a shame.

Chances are Hellraiser will be coming first, but we’ll keep our ears open and let you know when we hear anything solid!
