Landis to Helm Gaines Doc
John Landis is returning behind the camera for another documentary about an influential funny man following Mr. Warmth: The Don Rickles Project, though admittedly one of a very different type of humor. Gallows humor, some call it.
Variety reports that Landis will helm Ghoulishly Yours, William M. Gaines, a biopic about the life of EC Comics publisher and groundbreaking horror maven William M. Gaines.
At the height of EC Comics’ success, Gaines was seen as an anti-establishment figurehead because of his outspoken views regarding comics’ effect on the minds of the young. To this day almost everyone with some form of creative job in horror can list Gaines as an influence, so this one’s been a long time coming.
The script for the doc was penned by Joel Eisenberg, who developed the project with Landis. Keep it here for more as the film moves forward!

For a film that's getting a limited release, Magnolia Pictures sure is hyping up The Signal (review). Just a few days ago a new clip was released (“Laura and the New Signal Clip – February 2008") and then today part one of a new web series about the picture started exclusively on YouTube.

Now what a minute....
Is this a documentary or a biopic? Half the sites on the 'net are saying it is a docu, while the other are stating that it will be an actual film with actors.
So which is it? And if it is the latter, who'd make a good Gaines?

You know, it's funny, because I was thinking about the plausibility of a Bill Gaines docudrama project a few weeks ago. Weird.
