Killer Tomatoes to Attack Anew
I guess if anyone out there can capture the subtly of Attack of the Killer Tomatoes for a whole new generation, it’s the guys behind “Ask a Ninja”, right? Um ... sure!
The Hollywood Reporter got wind that Kent Nichols and Douglas Sarine, the creators of “Ask a Ninja”, will be working with M. Dal Walton III (Day of the Dead, Terror Train remakes) to pen a script for a new Killer Tomatoes which will see Nichols making his directorial debut.
The original 1978 film was about a crack team of government agents who were sent out to stop the titular veggies, made carnivorous by (what else?) a scientific experiment gone wrong. It was also George Clooney’s first movie.
"Attack of the Killer Tomatoes! is the masterwork of a generation," Nichols told the trade with more than a hint of irony, I’m sure, "We can only aspire to recapture that magic." Indeed...
