Jordan in the Heart-Shaped Box

Director Neil Jordan to helm Heart-Shaped BoxNow this is some truly good news and I’m damn glad I found it at the end of my day. Now I can sleep happy.

Variety just announced that director Neil Jordan (Company of Wolves, The Crying Game) has been signed to direct the adaptation of Joe Hill’s debut novel Heart-Shaped Box (review). The story is about an aging rockstar who is obsessed with collecting weird shit. When he sees an online auction offering up a ghost, he has to bite. Quite a mistake since the ghost wants him dead.

Warner Bros. is behind the film and by attaching a name like Jordan, you can tell they’re serious about it. Niel was also recently attached to A Killing on Carnival Row, though the trade didn’t mention which would come first.

Whenever it finally happens, it’ll be great to see both a (potentially) quality film made from a great book and Jodan stepping back into our genre after such a long absence. Stay tuned for more as we learn it!
