H.P. Lovecraft Film Fest Announces Lineup
Lurker Films sent out a press release today outlining the guests and some of the movies that will be a part of the upcoming H.P. Lovecraft Film Festival and CthulhuCon in Portland, Oregon. Their Author Guest of Honor is Brian Lumley (The House of Cthulhu), and Mike Mignola is the Artist Guest of Honor. They'll be joined by authors Robert M. Price and Laird Barron along with Jovanka Vuckovic, editor of the awesome Rue Morgue magazine, among others.
Some of the festival's highlights include the new documentary Lovecraft: Fear of the Unknown (review), AM 1200, Eel Girl, The Casting Call of Cthulhu, Darkest Evil, which stars Jeffrey Combs and Dean Stockwell, and the original Hellboy, which will be followed by a Q&A with series creator Mignola. Other events include live dramatic performances of M.R. James' Gothic horror tales by actor Robert Lloyd Perry and a concert by The Darkest of the Hillside Thickets. There'll even be a wedding ceremony!
As one of the show's sponsors, Dark Horse Comics editor Scott Allie says, "Thank god we have things like the H.P. Lovecraft Film Festival to keep Portland weird in the eternally funky Hollywood Theatre." I've been to Portland and can vouch for its weirdness -- only in the best way of course!
The fest runs October 3-5, 2008, at Portland's Hollywood Theatre. This marks the 14th year Lurker Films has produced the event, which "celebrates film and culture influenced by the Master of Cosmic Horror." For more details, visit the official H.P. Lovecraft Film Festival and CthulhuCon site.
