Hot Topic Offers Free Death Note II Tickets!
As you should already know by now, Death Note II: The Last Name (review) is being given a fairly substantial theatrical release this coming October 15th and 16th by its distributor, VIZ Pictures. Today we learned that as part of a special promotion, customers who purchase a Death Note t-shirt or DVD in select Hot Topic stores starting on October 1, 2008, will receive a free ticket to see the film (while supplies last).
Here are the full details from VIZ's press release: Hot Topic will support the event in nearly 400 stores with in-store signage and special areas in each location offering a variety of Death Note apparel and related merchandise, including the Death Note live action DVD (review here). VIZ Media’s Shonen Jump magazine will lend additional support with a promo ad in the November issue, which will hit stores on October 7th.
If mall shopping's not your thing, you can pre-order your tickets online from Fathom Events. Fathom is the biggest supplier of alternative programming and advertising services to the USA’s largest movie theatre chains so chances are your hometown favorite is on the list. For more on the film itself, visit the official Death Note website.

I was disappointed as soon as I saw it was a Fathom event. I'm guessing that means it'll be dubbed. Looks that way from the trailer.
