Hot Daughter of Evigan Burning Bright

Briana Evigan Burning BrightHere’s the pitch: A 20-year old girl and her autistic little brother find themselves trapped in their house during a raging hurricane as well as by the man-eating tiger that has invaded their home.

My reaction: This is going to be a Lifetime Network original movie, right?

You think I’m kidding? A few weeks back I watched a tornado movie on the Lifetime Network that’s entire third act was based around tornado chaser Mimi Rogers rushing to rescue her daughter from a date rapist amid an unprecedented tornado outbreak in Washington State. You tell me there’s a movie in the works about a young woman, an autistic kid, a hurricane, and a vicious tiger and I tell you that movie has Lifetime Network written all over it. But this particular autism/hurricane/tiger/woman-in-peril flick is possibly headed to a theater near you.

The movie is called Burning Bright (no earthly idea what the title means and I bet you it gets changed along the way) and Variety reports that filming in Florida will begin in mid-July. Having already danced it up Step Up 2 The Streets and soon-to-be playing friend to Donnie Darko’s sister in the potentially ill-fated sequel S. Darko, Briana Evigan (AKA the remarkably hot daughter of actor Greg Evigan) has signed on to star in the thriller. I’m guessing this one will not end with Evigan doing sexy dancing in the rain while a tiger watches on.

Burning Bright will be helmed by Carlos Brooks, director of the recent Sundance flick Quid Pro Quo, from a script by Christine Coyle Johnson and Julie Prendiville Roux. Sobini Films, who have a first-look deal with Lionsgate, are producing.

Hey, if Lionsgate doesn’t give it a second look there’s always Lifetime…
