Benefit Cannibal Holocaust Re-Animator Salo Shaun Luu Horror Fest Tweet By Johnny Butane June 13th, 2008 One thing I love the most about being a fan of horror is the sense of community you get when around like-minded individuals. Sure we have our disagreements on what makes for a good horror movie, but at heart we’re all fans and more than any other genre, we’re fans who have one another’s back. Originally conceived as a way to lift the spirits of Shaun Luu, a fan of horror and punk who was diagnosed with cancer back in 2004, the Shaun Luu Horror Fest continued on after Shaun passed away in 2005 as a benefit for the American Cancer Society. Interepid on-camera darling Heather dropped us a line with a heads-up that this years show is tomorrow (nothing like last-minute), but this film lineup might be enough to make you cancel existing plans. 35mm prints of Re-Animator, Terror Vision, Cannibal Holocaust and Salo: 120 Days of Sodom (!) will be shown as part of this year’s festival, which goes down this Saturday, June 14th at the Palace Theater in Syracuse, NY.
