Hellboy Game Spotted

Remember a long time ago there was talk of a game based on Hellboy? Konami had the license, and it was going to come to the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 sometime in 2007? Well, it’s still coming.

Hand-to-hand combat with an almost wrestling game-style grappling system, along with input from Hellboy creator Mike Mignola, were promised, but the almost complete radio silence that followed the news has been worrying. Well, there’s been a slight breach in that silence, and the first new batch of screens of the game since May have surfaced (one of 'em is to your right; the rest are here).

I’d be lying if I said the screenshots are looking hot, but it’s still early days, and some things are shaping up quite nicely, most notably the models of our heroes Hellboy, Abe, and Liz (who reportedly can be used as playable characters in the game’s co-op mode).

Hopefully the game still has a ways to go and the standards we’re seeing in the main characters will get carried through to the rest of the game.
