With the second animated movie set to premiere this weekend on The Cartoon Network, now is as good a time as any to sit down and chat with Hellboy himself, Ron Perlman. The LA Times did just that and found out that his next turn as Big Red will be on us before he likely knows it.
He told the paper that he’s currently starting his workout regimen anew to get in shape for a late May production start date on Hellboy 2: The Golden Army which, he says, will "explore all the things that are great about this character -- a superhero who is such an underachiever and such an adolescent."
Before Perlman can don the makeup again, this time working for Universal instead of Revolution Studios, the big guy will star alongside Angus Scrimm, Larry Fessenden and Dominic Monaghan ("Lost") as a priest in I Sell the Dead.
More on Hellboy 2 will be along shortly, I'm sure; for more on the next animated movie, Hellboy: Blood & Iron in which Perlman returns as the voice of Hellboy, look for our video interview with series creator Mike Mignola and director Tad Stones very soon!
