Has Roth Found His Girls?

Eli Roth has insisted over and over again that Hostel 2, the craftily titled sequel to Hostel, will be dumping all the comedy that made the first film so odd and keeping a straight face throughout. Serious is good with this kind of film, and the girls he’s looking at for the leads have all shown off their chops in the past.

The Hollywood Reporter made mention today that Lauren German (the girl who ventilated herself in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake), Bijou Phillips (the large-foreheaded star of Venom...not that anyone saw that), and Heather Matarazzo ("Weiner Dog" from Welcome to the Dollhouse) are in various stages of negotiations to star in Hostel 2. German is in talks to play a rich girl trying to figure out what to do in life, Phillips would be her friend, and Matarazzo would be (sadly, as expected) playing a tag-along.

The sequel, as I’m sure you know, follows three girls who learn the horrifying truth behind the Slovakian hostel from the first film as well as its international counterparts. Nothing better to spice things up than some misogyny, am I wrong?
