Robin HardyFangoria has provided some interesting news about Wicker Man helmer Robin Hardy’s slated return to the director’s chair with a “reimagining” of his 1973 classic film (Collector’s Edition DVD review here). Cowboys for Christ, a Hardy-penned novel that inhabits the same disturbing territory as The Wicker Man (which we last reported on back here), will begin filming in early September in Scotland with a switch to Texas later in the year.

According to the official Cowboys for Christ website, the plot goes something like this: “Beth and Steve, a gospel singer and her cowboy boyfriend, both Christian members of a no-sex-before-marriage pact they call ‘the silver ring thing’, leave Texas to preach door-to-door in Scotland. When, after initial abuse, they are welcomed with joy and elation to Tressock, the border fiefdom of the sinister Lachlan Morrison, they assume thir hosts want to simply hear more about Jesus. How innocent and wrong they are.”

Powerhouse talents Christopher Lee and Faye Dunaway have apparently already signed on for the project, but the two leads have yet to be cast. Keep it here for more, and while you’re waiting, click here to get the book from Evilshop!
