Goyer Talks Baltimore Project
During Comic Con, David Goyer got to chatting with a lot of people about the various projects he’s involved in, talking up his next directorial effort The Unborn more than anything else.
But STYD did ask him about the adaptation of the Christopher Golden/Mike Mignola-penned novel Baltimore, or The Steadfast Tin Soldier and the Vampire (book review), which Goyer’s been attached to direct since the project was announced.
"The book is not an easy adaptation and the draft - and I think [Mignola and Golden] would be the first to admit this - is very literary," Goyer told the site. "So now we're going to do a re-write with them. We'll see. It's still very early on and it's a cool project, a quirky project. I was surprised when I got involved because when we took it out to studios, I thought it would be a hard sell. But there was lot of people interested in it."
I’m glad to hear that he’s still passionate about getting this one made; the book is probably one of the best I read last year and to see come to the screen, done right of course, it could easily have the makings of classic. Stay tuned for more updates!

Guillermo del Toro is being true to his word and mentoring another young filmmaker into his first feature, this time teaming with Miramax on a remake of the 1973 classic Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark. THR reports that the film will serve as comic book writer/artist Troy Nixey’s directorial debut. Surely a dream come true.
