Gimme Skelter Goes Indie

Gimme Skelter goes the indie routeSelf-distribution seems to be the way to go for most indie films these days, especially when indie filmmakers just aren’t being given the kinds of DVD deals they feel they deserve. Such is the case with Scott (The Stink of Flesh) Phillips and his latest entry into our genre, Gimme Skelter (review).

Phillips dropped us a line over the weekend with the word that, since he nor his producers are happy with the deals they’ve been offered for a DVD release of the movie, they’re going to try to get the DVD out there themselves; always a risky venture but more than worth it to keep your integrity in place if you ask me.

The disc can be pre-ordered through the official Gimme Skelter site or MySpace page now, and will come with a writer/director commentary, video blogs, still gallery and more. The disc is expected to ship in mid-January.

To honor the rapidly dwindling population of Banion’s Cross, New Mexico (the fictional town where the film takes place), the first 67 orders will receive numbered limited edition DVDs, signed by Gunnar Hansen and several other cast members! Once these 67 are gone they’re gone forever so if you’re into cool horror collectibles, getting one now’d be a good move!
