Gilliam Talks Good Omens!

Good Omens might finally get made! There are some books out there that I don’t feel should ever be attempted to be adapted for films; The Dark Tower series is one I’ve always been afraid of being tainted. But then there are the books that simply beg to be translated to the big screen, and the Neil Gaiman/Terry Pratchett masterpiece Good Omens is one of them.

The story is about an angel and a demon who have to team up to try and prevent the apocalypse from actually occurring, and all the hilarious problems they have making sure they do. It’s the kind of ironic comedy that Douglas Adams was so good at, and who better to bring that to cinemas then Terry Gilliam?

“I’m the only one who can make it, ‘cos that’s what Neil and Terry have said. I’m the only one”, Gilliam told Empire in a recent interview, in which he also discusses the plan to finally finish Don Quixote. “I mean it’s such a wonderful book. And I think our script is pretty good, too. We did quite a few changes. We weren’t as respectful as we ought to have been. But Neil’s happy with it!”

Though that’s about all he had to say on the subject, it’s the most he’s said about it for years so keep your fingers crossed. And if you haven’t read it yet, my God you need to remedy that right quick! Click here to get it through Evilshop!
