The Signal review! If you give a listen to my interview with Anessa Ramsey of The Signal (review), you’ll hear us chat about “the song” and how sad it is that it’s no longer going to be a part of the film…

You see, Ramsey’s character, Mya, spends a lot of time listening to a mix CD her boyfriend makes her, and one song in particular seems to be especially comforting. The print I saw at Fantasia had a fantastic Lou Reed cover, but that’s since been changed (Lou doesn’t like scary movies, it seems) to a cover of Joy Division’s “Atmosphere” done by David Wingo of Ola Podrida.

Call me unhip if you will, but I’ve never heard of either the singer nor his band, but Joy Division was the bane of my existence growing up (what can I say? I liked punk). You can check out the new song by clicking here right now. It won’t have as much impact until you see it in the movie, however. Just a word of warning.

Magnolia is putting The Signal in theaters come February 22nd, 2008; click here for a full theater listing and keep your eyeballs open for more Signal interviews next week!
