Gears of War is Go!

Gears of War movie is good to go!Are we going to have another Doom on our hands with the Gears of War movie? I kinda hope so, just with a tiny bit more intelligence. Sorry, I thought Doom was fun, sue me.

Producer Wyck Godfrey talked to Coming Soon recently and confirmed that the Gears script is ready to go and they’ll be announcing the director very soon. Underworld director Len Wiseman was attached to this for a while but has since moved on. As of right now a 2010 release is planned, but it depends on how quickly production starts up.

Granted, most of what makes the game so great is how cinematic it looks, so translating it to screen should be pretty simple, which is why more intelligence will be necessary to make it a good flick. Pirates of the Caribbean screenwriter Stuart Beattie worked with head game designer Cliff Bleszinski on the script, so hopefully that won’t be a problem.

Gears of War 2, the game, is set for release this November.

"Doom" was pure trash, sad to say. The plot was horrible, and the first person shooting sequence was horribly used.

Glad to see soom Doom love. Yeah it was stupid and loud, but it's still secure in my top 3 rows of "movies to watch and zone out on." GoW has just about the same "storyline" as Doom away, so this might turn into something cool.

As long as Paul W.S. Anderson isn't brought into the mix at all, we'll be fine.

Doom was good, but this should be better on every level.

Doom was a fuckin blast...I think they did the first person shooter sequence just right. It was kinda Boll-ish...but a helluva lot of fun...and come on...The Rock as a bad guy? That's quality entertainment. The Rock says so!
