Gamebox(click to see it bigger!)It can be argued that Lionsgate has become the new master of horror DVDs. Each week at least 8 to 10 show up on the radar, and more often than not, they are enjoyable. So what are some of the films to look forward to this month? How about we start with something both gamers and horror fans can flock to: Gamebox 1.0.

The official word is that "Charlie Nash is an expert video game tester whose life has become unbearable after the tragic shooting of his girlfriend Kate. Finding no comfort in his friends or job, Charlie loses himself in video games. After receiving a mysterious test game in the mail, he immerses himself in its amazingly realistic, 3-D fantasy universe. However, Charlie soon learns this virtual world is very real, as he’s plunged into a perilous, life-and-death battle against the game from which there is little chance of escape - or survival. In this pulse-pounding, effects-packed sci-fi thriller, the only way out is to win."

  • Chicago Massacre: Richard Speck (click to see it bigger!)Wait! There's more. Lionsgate has also just released a film where Tony Todd teams up with Andrew Divoff, Debbie Rochon and Stargate SG-1's Corin Nemec to bring you Michael Feifer's Chicago Massacre: Richard Speck. What are these horror icons doing in Chicago?

Let's take a look back 41 years ago: "On July 14th, 1966, Richard Speck broke into a South Chicago townhouse and took nine student nurses hostage. There he methodically beat, raped, and stabbed the young women to death in one of the bloodiest mass murders in American history. Brought to life by a celebrated horror cast, this terrifying story is a must-see for every fan of true-crime."

Sadly, though, this DVD doesn't come quite as full of extras, but some things are better than nothing:

  • Audio commentary with director Michael Feifer and actor Corin Nemec
  • Stills gallery
  • Show Tony Todd and Andrew Divoff some love and buy Chicago Massacre: Richard Speck through EvilShop as well!
