Friday the 13th Star Joins Russell's Prodigy
Friday the 13th starlet Danielle Panabaker has landed another lead role, this time in Chuck (The Scorpion King) Russell’s Prodigy, a new thriller he’s prepping for Intrepid Pictures and Kincine, according to this morning's THR.
Based on the 2006 novel by Dave Kalstein, who also penned the script, Prodigy revolves around an elite prep school that promises to produce national leaders through educational and medical enhancements. Three days before they’re set to graduate, however, several student bodies are found murdered, and it's up to Cooley, the school rebel, and Goldsmith, the valedictorian, to push their differences aside and find out who's behind the murders. What they discover is a deep-seated conspiracy that goes way beyond the walls of the school.
Jumper star Max Thieriot is already on board as the rebellious Cooley (he’ll next be seen in Wes Craven’s 25/8), and Panabaker will be stepping into the role of a brilliant senator’s daughter who starts questioning the powers that be. Yeah, murder will do that.
Shooting on Prodigy is expected to start up in Spain the middle of October; keep it here for updates!
