First Look at The Descent 2

The Descent 2 crawler!Yep, that’s the first look at a crawler from The Descent 2, the much-maligned sequel that’s coming our way whether we like it or not. Shooting just recently wrapped in London on the follow-up, and Fango got the first pic of one of the new crawlers. Which looks remarkably similar to the old crawlers...

Though I guess you wouldn’t want them to change that look, would you? From all accounts the sequel is actually looking pretty good; we had a man on set last week who will be turning in a full set visit very soon with all the details. But yes, all six girls are back, most on camcorder footage shot by original helmer Neil Marshall, and no, it’s not going to follow the Aliens formula of bigger-is-better. Thank God.

The story picks up with Sarah emerging from the underground caves, covered in blood but unable to remember just what happened to her. The police force her back into the caves in order to find her five friends and the deeper they get, the more memories come back to her. Pretty soon she doesn’t have to remember anything, though, as the horror is still alive and well.

Look for our full Descent 2 set visit very soon for more!

Nothing wrong with the Aliens formula. As long as they don't find a little girl hiding out in those caves calling herself "Salamander", I'll be giddy. GIDDy.

The original was OK. Hopefully the sequel won't drop the ball too badly. Just as long as it's not to lame with the story.

Anyone else see this? Behind the scenes footage. It's off British TV...

I really hope they go with the "everything that's happpening to her is actually a hallucination while in a coma after the car crash near the beginning of the first movie" interpretation, because that way the sequel could go into some deliciously surrealist territory.

With - of course - the obligatory getting out of the shower scene!

I actually don't think that's the type of fanservice Marshall's likely to use... the closest thing I remember to that is maybe Lee-Anne Liebenberg's cleavage in "Doomsday".

You got a problem with Aliens, Bub? J/K
Now that you mention it, the story is very similar to the Alien storyline. Lone surviver has to go back with guys with guns.
With Aliens being on Frank's TOP 5 raddest movies of all time, this all of a sudden sounds really good to me. Creature looks just about the same, maybe a little more rodent-like.
