First Look Preps Ogre DVD
John Schneider, Katharine Isabelle, Chelan Simmons, and a hulking computer-generated ogre with bitch tits: it must be a Sci-Fi Channel original movie! And it was. Premiered this past March. Now you'll be able to own Ogre (review) on DVD this coming March.
Ogre stars Ginger Snaps' Katharine Isabelle as one of a small group of twenty-something's investigating an old legend of a lost town who happen upon the town that turns out to be lost in a time warp. It's also cursed by an ogre that emerges every winter solstice to collect its sacrifice. John Schneider, of all people, is the resident power-hungry warlock looking to sacrifice these interlopers from modern times. Final Destination 3's Chelan Simmons is the good daughter looking to save them from an ogre-munching death and break the town's curse in the progress.
As I stated in my review of Ogre, that ogre is the true star of the film, a hysterical-looking video game boss monster with a pot belly and bitch tits that I described best as Vince McMahon's ideal version of Shrek.
First Look Entertainment will release Ogre to DVD next year on March 13th in both a rated and unrated version. I know the version I watched on the Sci-Fi Channel had its fair share of gory death scenes but it didn't strike me as a film that would ever warrant an unrated edition. No extras have been announced.

Damn you, Gore Verbinski. Damn you. The man behind the U.S. remake of The Ring, which I grant you wasn’t as bad as we had feared, has been attached to produce a redux of another Asian favorite: Bong Joon-Ho’s The Host (review).
