Fido Makers Bring The Thaw

The Thaw info found! The other day I got the great opportunity to chat with Fido director Andrew Currie about the recent DVD release of his movie (listen to it here), and of course the subject of new projects came up. One he said his company, Anagram Pictures, is working was described as an environmental horror film dealing with issues of global warming and such.

Immediately I thought of Larry Fessenden’s Last Winter (review), it being the most recent and best example of envirohorror, but now that I’ve seen a detailed synopsis for the movie Currie referenced, The Thaw, the differences are clear.

In The Thaw a deadly prehistoric parasite is released when a woolly mammoth is discovered in a melting ice cap. In order to prevent a worldwide epidemic, four ecology students are tasked with destroying the parasite, but one-by-one they become infected by the thing and turn on one another.

The teaser poster you see on your right was found at Anagram’s page for The Thaw, by the by. Pretty damn cool if you ask me; a definite John Carpenter’s The Thing vibe! We’ll have more on the film, which is being helmed by Mark A. Lewis, as production settles in and the info pours forth!
