First pics from The Graves! After a little bit of digging, the sick geniuses behind “>Netherbeast Incorporated (review), The Ronalds Brothers, have just handed me another scoop of dirt and this time it’s straight from The Graves!

Written and directed by comic book author Brian Pulido (Lady Death/Evil Ernie) The Graves was shot in May 2008 in Wickenberg, Arizona at the Vulture City abandoned gold mines. It stars Bill Moseley(Devils Rejects/House of a 1000 Corpses), Tony Todd (Candyman/The Rock), Amanda Wyss (Nightmare on Elm Street/Better Off Dead), Lamb of God’s front man D Randall Blythe, and newcomers Clare Grant (“Valerie Under the Stairs”) and Jillian Murray (Fun Park/Legacy).

First pics from The Graves!“After scaring readers on the page for years, I’m looking forward to bringing the frights directly into theaters and homes,” Pulido said. The Graves is about two inseparable sisters whose visit to a remote mine town takes a turn into a mind-bending fight for survival against menaces both human and supernatural.

“It was actually kind of creepy shooting at the old abandoned Gold Mine,” producer Brian Ronalds reports. “People said the place was haunted, but we thought they should save that for the tourists. We did, however, actually have what seemed like a first-hand experience with God knows what!

First pics from The Graves! There was a ‘sweet spot’ for cell phone service that the cast and crew used. The trouble was, it was far from the production team. On one occasion I drove my truck up to the spot to save some time but was having trouble receiving the reliable cell phone signal. I was a little on the creeped-out side of things already because of all the rumors about ghosts, a strange commune across the street from where we were shooting and a mysterious note we’d received midway through production that was written on a wall on set in production blood that read ‘Go home!’

First pics from The Graves! So I decided to lock my truck via the automatic lock button. But the door wouldn’t lock. I switched the button to lock and my friggin car kept unlocking itself. Then the door ajar light went on. So there I was by myself, at night, shooting a really creepy movie and I got a truck that won’t lock and door ajar lights that keeps flashing on and off. It didn’t take me long to realize I may be living our movie so I got the hell out of there in a flash and got back to the set. Upon my return, my truck doors locked appropriately, and the door ajar light stopped blinking. Making the picture was a hair-raising experience! There was never a dull moment, that’s for sure!”

The star-packed film promises to deliver scares by the cartful … a mine cart that is! Expect to find The Graves completed by October 08 so stay tuned for screening info and release dates.
