Exclusive: Mendez on Gravedancers Features!
Following yesterday’s story about the Dutch release of a 2-disc Steelbook edition of Mike Mendez’s The Gravedancers (read it here), Mendez dropped us a line with some interesting information that I hope it’s not too late to convey to you guys.
Apparently, even though it’s two discs, there actually are no special features on the DVD set, which explains why I couldn’t find any specs that listed them. Mike said that one disc has the film in an 4:3 fullscreen format, the other in widescreen 16:9 ... and that’s it. Other than the cool packaging, of course, which is hardly worth it if there’s no meat on the inside, much like a mayonnaise sandwich...
However, Mike did let us know that there are a lot of features set for Lionsgate’s release of the film on DVD here come March 27th. Though of course it’s up to the Gate as to what will make it onto the disc, Mendez told us that he has personally done "two behind-the-scenes documentaries, nine deleted scenes, a commentary, stills, storyboards, and a bunch of other goodies." Here’s hoping the Gate is smart and gets them all onto the DVD release!
As you may recall, The Gravedancers was released in November as part of the After Dark HorrorFest, which, it was just announced, will be making its return to theaters with a brand-new set of films on October 19th. We’ll be sure to let you know the second the new films are named as well as when the final specs for The Gravedancers DVD are ready!
