David Blyth's Transfigured NightsRemember the 1985 flick Death Warmed Up? About a kid who was hypnotized to kill his parents, then grew up to take revenge on the scientists who ruined his life? Some may have wondered what happened to Death director David Blyth after that film, and if you’re one of ‘em, we have good news: He’s coming to this year’s Fantasia so you can ask him yourself!

When the official Fantasia 2008 schedule goes live tomorrow, on it you will see two films from Blyth as part of Fantasia’s Documentaries From the Edge series: Transfigured Nights (about webcam mask performance(?)) and Bound for Pleasure (focusing on New Zealand’s suburban B&D scene). As the titles should tip you off, the docs focus on the strange yet fascinating world of fetishism, and Fantasia’s newest programmer, Simon Laperriere, brought both to Montreal for their North American premiere.

To celebrate the films and Blyth’s presence in town, Montreal’s Club Sin will be putting on a full-fledged fetish after party the night both films screen. Should be a sick and twisted good time, and that’s what Fantasia’s all about!

Other films in their Documentaries From the Edge series this year include “>Spine Tingler! The William Castle Story (review), Second Skin, Not Your Typical Bigfoot Movie and I Think We’re Alone Now, all about people who stalk 80’s pop diva Tiffany. Freaky!
