EHFF's new venue! The Eerie Horror Film Festival is proud to announce that this year’s event will be held in a spectacular new location. The Warner Theater in Erie, PA will graciously open its regal doors to the young film festival this October from the 9th to the 12th. The EHFF may still be in relative infancy as far as indie horror film festivals go, this being the event’s fifth year, but being able to utilize a venue such as the Warner Theater is an honor that most film festivals, horror or otherwise, just can’t boast. This amazing privilege has been made possible by the hard work and devotion of the board and staff involved with the EHFF.

“It’s always been a personal goal of mine to make it to the Warner,” says Greg Ropp, President of the Eerie Horror Film Festival. “Ever since I was a teenager, when I saw my first show there, I’ve been in love with this place. It’s definitely one of the crown jewels of Erie, and it’s a venue that’s just perfect for our Festival. Our attendees, guests and vendors are going to be stunned when they walk into this place. I don’t think there’s many venues like The Warner on the festival circuit, and we’re beyond honored to be able to be there this season!”

EHFF's new venue!Living in the Erie area for most of my life, I can attest to the fact that the Warner Theater is a big deal. Not only is it one of the most historic buildings in the city, it is also one of only a few remaining examples of the original Warner Theaters. Since the doors first opened on April 10, 1931, the Warner’s stage has seen a variety of performances from Jimmy Durante, Bob Hope and Broadway musicals to Sesame Street Live. The Warner Theater also offers a genuine Silver Screen that sadly hasn’t been used in decades, but that’s about to change thanks to the Eerie Horror Film Festival.

“I’m also pleased that this is yet another venue we’ve been able to open up to independent filmmakers, especially in the local area,” Ropp added. “Can you imagine your indie film being projected on the silver screen of a movie palace? A place that seats over 1,400 people on the floor alone? The Warner hasn’t shown films since the late 1970’s, so it’s going to be quite surreal once those lights dim and the first film is projected up on that stage.”

EHFF's new venue!Attendees to the festival this year are going to be in for a huge surprise when they step through the doors of the Warner Theater. The EHFF is going to offer a totally different level of entertainment and a whole new atmosphere compared to years past. Pass holders won’t be the only ones stunned by the EHFF’s new digs; filmmakers who submit their films to the fest this year will have the chance to have their efforts shown on the same screen as The Exorcist, A Clockwork Orange, and Doctor Zhivago, which all played on their original runs in the theater.

Local filmmaker “Monster” Mark Kosobucki is thrilled with the EHFF’s move to the Warner: “Most filmmakers entertain the idea at some point in their lives of how amazing it would be to play a packed theater with their work showing on a silver screen just like all the movies that inspired us to start telling our own stories.”

2008 will also mark the first year that both the Eerie Horror Film Festival and the Carnival of Carnage Expo will be able to be housed in the same building. The films, vendors, and celebrity guests (including Tony Moran, Kane Hodder, and Gunnar Hansen along with the surviving cast of Texas Chainsaw Massacre) will all be under the same roof, which will afford everyone a richer, more exciting festival experience!

Hope to see you there!
