Check it out; this Tuesday, December 11th you shall be able to feast your eyes on the following horror DVDs…

Click to see the cover bigger!Bikini Bloodbath (2007)
Directed by Jon Gorman

Well, if nothing else this one will get the award for most eye-catching DVD cover this week. I would expect something called Bikini Bloodbath to have a much more cheeserific cover so kudos to the marketing department at Video Music, Inc. Lots of hot girls, Debbie Rochon as a lesbian volleyball coach, and death from top to bottom is what makes this one worth a renting. Buy it here!

Directed by Steven Charles Castle

Now this is what I mean by “cheesy cover”, see. Cheese. A man, fulfilling a deadly curse he laid down before he died, rises from the grave to enact his revenge on those who killed him. The police, of course, can’t figure out shit since it seems the killer is everywhere and nowhere. Spooky. Only one person holds the key to stop the ghostly murderer but has no idea what she can do. Directed by G.H. Evans

After the sudden and painful loss of his parents, Andrew is left alone and inconsolable. He is afraid that everything he loves he will loose, so determines to never love anyone again. A downward spiral follows, which eventually leads him to the world of snuff films. Will he choose a path of salvation or damnation? Who knows but hopefully he’ll at least get some messy killing in before he decides. Buy it here!

Click to see the cover bigger!Hack! (2006)
Directed by Matt Flynn

Ah, God this sounds lame. But I’ll give it a chance, at least as long as it takes me to write the synopsis. Two horror fans want to create the ultimate slasher film using real victims. They target a group of college students (sigh) who head out to an island to study plants. Dispatching them in both new and old styles, pretty soon the duo have all they need for the ultimate slasher. But is it all real or a very elaborate setup? Well, since that even came into question I guess we’ll have to go with the latter option. Buy it here!

Click to see the cover bigger!Masters of Horror: The V Word (2007)
Directed by Ernest Dickerson

Ah, the potential. Mr. Dickerson was the man who brought us Tales From The Crypt: Demon Knight as well as the underrated Bones. So give him a script about vampires and through in some Michael Ironside and you should be golden, right? Wrong. This was probably the worst episode (of what I’ve seen) of Masters of Horror, and it was very early in the season. Which may explain why it was one of the last DVDs to come out. Click to see the cover bigger!Silent Night, Deadly Night (1984)
Directed by Charles E. Sellier, Jr.

A young boy witnesses his parents being slaughtered by the roadside by a man in a Santa suit. He spends many a year in an orphanage, never talking to anyone and only doing what he needs to do to survive, but a horrible Mother Superior bends his mind. Finally he snaps, escapes, and dresses as Santa for a rampage of blood. Banned all over the place because parents didn’t the idea of murderous Santa, Anchor Bay finally gives this an uncut release in the States, though maybe a bit past it’s prime. Buy it here!

Click to see the cover bigger!Suffocation (2005)
Directed by Zhang Bingjian

If it’s about a cello case that may or may not be used as an instrument of death, why call it Suffocation? Why not The Cello Case? That’s the trend with most Asian horror; to make the simplest title possible. Anyway, the film is about a schizophrenic haunted by the death of a woman, murdered by her photographer husband who was convinced she was cheating on him. The dead and the living, reality and illusion blur to a point of insanity in this psychological headfuck. Buy it here!

Click to see the cover bigger!Threshold (2003)
Directed by Chuck Bowman

A Sci Fi Essential, eh? Something tells me no. The film is about the crew of the Space Shuttle Oklahoma, who just returned to Earth after repairing the Hubble Telescope. One of the crew was infected while in space with an alien lifeform, which is now getting bigger and hungrier by the second. Can humans stop this monster before it’s too late or are we just meat for the beast? Buy it here!

Click to see the cover bigger!Undead or Alive (2007)
Directed by Glasgow Phillips

Been waiting for this one for a while now, I really hope it was worth it! The story finds two cowboys, on the run from a pissed off sheriff who take refuge in the desert. There they meet Geronimo’s niece, a beautiful woman who wants to help. Unbeknownst to any of them, the Indians have laid down a curse on the white man, causing all their dead to rise up and eat the living.
