Click to see it bigger!Black Wine (2005)
Directed by Ryan Rossell

The story of two lovers whose newfound romance turns deadly … somehow. A hunt is apparently on now, and the two young lovers are sent down a dark and twisted path of murder and betrayal. How’s that for vague? The description on Indican’s website says it’s a like Hitchcock with modern horror flavor which, as most of you know, is Barbeque. Mmmmm … barbeque. Buy it here!

Click to see it bigger!Curse of the Devil (1973)
Directed by Carlos Aured

Ah, nothingl like a cool slice of Paul Naschy werewolf goodness to cool you off on these hot summer days, no? In this ones, Naschy’s cursed Daninsky accidentally pisses off a coven of Satanic psychos, who unleash a plague of homicidal madmen and lusty maidens to torment the poor, misunderstood lycanthrope. But as the fool moon rises are they any match for the beast within? Buy it here!

Click to see it bigger!Funny Games (2008)
Directed by Michael Haneke

Haneke’s remake of his own movie, with a bigger set of stars and a change of location, had been called everything from brilliant to boring. Personally, that’s what I look for with a horror film these days; something that divides fans down the middle. The story follows a couple (Naomi Watts and Tim Roth) who are terrorized by a pair of whispy thing psychos for no real reason in particular. Check out our “>DVD review for Funny Games for more! Click to see it bigger!Human Lanterns (1982)
Directed by Sun Chung

More Shaw Brothers goodness to help you forget your woes. One rich and one poor man enter into an unholy contest with one another to create the best lantern every year. Local supple maidens are disappearing right when the contest begins, so it’s pretty obvious where their beautiful lantern creations are coming from. Lots of blood, guts, and swords, and this edition apparently features footage thought to be “too shocking” until now. Buy it here!

Click to see it bigger!Organizm (2007)
Directed by Richard Jeffries

This was originally shot and aired on the Sci Fi Channel as “>Living Hell (review), no idea why they changed the title for the DVD release. Jonathan Schaech and Erica Leershen star in this tale about an organism (no “z”) that feeds off of energy and eats anything in its path. How do you stop something that only gets bigger and more aggressive the more you try and stop it? I guess that age-old question can finally be answered! Buy it here!

Click to see it bigger!Otis (2008)
Directed by Tony Krantz

Finally you guys will be able to see the film we’ve been championed for months now. A jet-black comedy with more than enough horror elements to make fans smile, Otis is about the titular psycho, who captures women, keeps them locked up and insists they all be named “Kim”, then when they won’t put out on “prom” he does bad things. Be sure to check out our cool behind-the-scenes feature on the “>makeup work of Otis, and read our “>Otis DVD review for more! Buy it here!

Click to see it bigger!Out of the Blue (2006)
Directed by Robert Sarkies

I think this could happen to pretty much anyone, depending on how bad their day really is; This is the story of David Gray who, one fateful day, just snapped. He didn’t just go crazy and start talking to himself, though, instead he took an entire small down hostage and massacred people he’d known for his entire life. Based on a true story, of course. That’s Karl Urban with the bad ‘stash, by the way. Buy it here!

Click to see it bigger! The Planet (2006)
Directed by Mark Stirton

What a strangley generic title for a film that’s seemingly not about a planet really at all. The story is about some mercenaries who are forced to evacuate their dying ship and end up stranded on a desolate planet devoid of life. Or is it? Pretty soon they’re being attacked by a force that turns the very souls of their fallen friends against them. So of course the force must be stopped before it overtakes the entire universe. Click to see it bigger!Razor Eaters (2003)
Directed by Shannon Young

A group of sickos go around taping their weeklong rampage of violence across suburbia; capturing and torturing corrupt politicians, arrogant sports stars, drug dealers and more. A cop, hot on their trail, takes way too long to figure where they’re headed to next, which is why the thing lasts a week, but eventually tracks them down and a violent showdown commences. It says “The film that started a police investigation on it”, which I suppose is supposed to impress us, yes? Buy it here!

Click to see it bigger!Recon 2022: The Mezzo Incident (2007)
Directed by Christian Veil

The sequel to the low-budget sci fi epic Recon 2022: The Caprini Massacre, this time new Lieutenant Sharp takes his men to a deadly ice planet in order to defeat an underground facility run by Ma’har. Not sure what that is, but the apostrophe implies pure evil. Man eating snow worms, cyborgs and more murderous aliens than you can shake a stick at stand in their way. Buy it here!

Click to see it bigger!Salvation (2007)
Directed by J.A. Steel

I just read the whole plot synopsis for this, twice, and I still don’t get it. It’s got something to do with two Templar Knights who were tasked with keeping humanity safe, fighting that never-ending good vs. evil battle for as long as they could, and an 8-year old girl whose family is killed by bikers. Years later she confronts the biker gang, and then has to decide between good and evil in the aforementioned battle. Confused? Me, too. Buy it here!

Click to see it bigger!Shaolin Vs. Vampire (1980)
Directed by ?

Never could find out who directed this, but it stars Gordon Liu as a man who is tasked with protecting a group of infant vampires in Hong Kong, though I could also not find out why. I guess it doesn’t really matter; what does is that there’s a lot of high kicking and I’m sure more than enough violence, considering it’s about as close to a Shaw Brothers movie as you can get. Buy it here!

Click to see it bigger! The Signal (2007)
Directed by David Bruckner, Dan Bush & Jacob Gentry

One of the best films to come out last year, and of course no one actually bothered to go out and see it, The Signal is a unique end-of-the-world tale about what happens when a signal broadcast over all phone, TV and radio waves cause those that hear it to go insane and become excessively violent. Broken up into three segments, each directed by a different helmer, The Signal is unique in almost every way. Get it, damnit! Need more proof? Read our “>DVD review of The Signal right now! Click to see it bigger!Werewolf Shadow (1971)
Directed by Leon Kilmovsky

Also released as The Werewolf Vs. The Vampire Women, this Naschy hit follows the cursed Daninsky as he rescues two young women who are researching a vampire queen, unleashing a torrent of lycanthropy and lesbianism. My two favorite things! This the movie that asks the question, finally; Can a werewolf in love destroy the depraved desires of the undead? Truly one for the ages, that one. Buy it here!
