Del Toro Talks Frankenstein
Good news for those of us sick of remakes: Guillermo del Toro’s not planning on once again adapting Mary Shelley’s classic novel to the big screen when he finally gets around to doing Frankenstein, only one of the dozens of projects he’s attached to work on when The Hobbit is done. I’ll allow him to explain:
"I'm not doing 'Mary Shelley's Frankenstein'," the filmmaker said in a recent chat with Coming Soon. "I'm doing an adventure story that involves the creature. I cannot say much, but it's not the central creation story, I'm not worried about that. The fact is I've been dreaming of doing a 'Frankenstein' movie since I was a child. The one thing I can promise is, compared to Kenneth Branagh, I will not appear shirtless in the movie!"
Sorry, ladies, you’ll just have to wait for some other future project to check out what a shirtless del Toro can do for you. Of course there’s nothing even close to a start date for this project, but I’m sure this s not the last you’ll hear about it between now and 2011, when it might begin pre-production, if we’re lucky.
