Cyberdyne Has Created HAL

Cyberdyne's mock-up of HALI know this isn’t really horror in the most traditional sense, but sometimes you see stuff out there that is just too weird to pass up. Today that bit of weird showed up in CNN’s SciFi Tech Blog...

The story focuses on a company based out of Tokyo called, get this, Cyberdyne. What Cyberdyne is becoming known for, believe it or not, is making robotic devices that are supposed to help the elderly and disabled get around as easily as you or I. These devices are called Hybrid Assistive Limbs ... or HAL for short.

So is it possible both Stanley Kubrick and James Cameron really were onto something in their predictions of the future? And seriously, what company out there could’ve possibly settled on the name Cyberdyne without someone pointing out why they shouldn’t?

I don’t know about you guys, but I for one am scared ... Find out more about both Cyberdyne and HAL over at their website, and try and tell me you don't feel the same...

The minute they create something that has a little red light, and the voice of Douglas Rain, then we are in big trouble.

It would seem pretty strange if I didn't believe they are deliberately using the names Cyberdyne and HAL to draw attention to what they're doing.

Seriously, James Cameron is no prophet. But if the name Skynet pops up, well...
