Crypt Keeper Comeback?

I’ll admit that Masters of Horror was fun for the most part, but nothing could ever touch the humor and horror of HBO’s Tales From the Crypt. It had all the essentials that a genre series needs, and it lasted years; right now we’re not even sure about the final fate of Masters. Could digging up the Crypt Keeper save televised horror?
Bloody Disgusting chatted it up with voice-actor extraordinaire John Kassir, the cackling voice of the Crypt Keeper, where he gave his thoughts on the past and possible future of HBO’s Tales From the Crypt.
The comment on the series’ possible resurrection was nothing concrete or even suggestive, but Mr. Kassir does have a point that it would not be surprising “to see the franchise come back as a series like Twilight Zone came back with fresh directors and fresh stars.”
Would the series work if it were brought back with a bigger budget, new stars and fresh directors? It would blow Masters of Horror out of the water probably. Maybe we’ll see another network pick up Crypt and use it to battle NBC’s Fear Itself next year? Only time will tell.
