Steve Niles has created a lot of badass characters during his time in our genre, but for my money none is more badass than Cal McDonald, a washed-up, drugged-out detective who has a curious knack for attracting all sorts of attention from monsters, demons, and anything else that will readily kick his ass.
Finally, for the first time, Dark Horse has collected all the rare and out-of-print prose adventures McDonald has gotten himself into over the years. The book, called simply Criminal Macabre: The Complete Cal McDonald Stories, will clock in at 576 pages (!) when it hits shelves this November 28th.
Damn, that seems like a long time to wait and way too close to winter for my tastes, but I’m sure it’ll be worth it. For even more Cal check out his latest comic adventure, Criminal Macabre: My Demon Baby, issue #1 of which will be in stores September 19th!
