Holy Cowboys for Christ! Whose butt did we really see doubling for Britt Ekland in Robin Hardy’s 1973 Wicker Man (review)? Jane Jackson, right? No?! Oh my God, who?!
Scotland’s Sunday Herald is reporting that Britt Ekland is causing a stir by claiming the ass cheeks everyone thought belonged to body double Jane Jackson may actually be the property of an unnamed Glasgow stripper! Oh, the drama!!!
But honestly … that doesn’t matter. The only interesting bit of the article is an update about Hardy’s quasi-follow-up to the original Wicker Man called Cowboys For Christ. Last time we heard about the project, Mr. Hardy was ready to make the film (“Hardy’s Cowboys Ready to Roll” – August 2007). Then several months passed with no word.
According to the Herald “a Celtic folk score has been composed by Keith Easdale along similar lines to the original soundtrack of The Wicker Man. Shooting is scheduled to begin on April 10 in some of the same Dumfries locations where the classic horror film was made.” Great news indeed!
Even more positive feedback came from horror icon Christopher Lee. The story, about two Americans who travel to Scotland to bring the word of Christ to the pagans, has Mr. Lee’s stamp of approval: “The reason I want to work again with Robin is because he has written a book that is erotic, romantic, comic and horrific enough to loosen the bowels of a bronze statue.”
