The story follows a couple who move out to a secluded cabin to try and deal with the wife’s terminal illness, or at least make her last bit of time on Earth more pleasant. Unfortunately, the wife’s illness plunges her deeper and deeper into dementia, while the husband forms a very close relationship with a local teenage girl that takes a perilous turn. Things do not end well. Dark Woods is described as a bit of We Don’t Live Here Anymore mixed with Polanski’s Repulsion, which isn’t a bad combo at all. Hell, at least they’re not being stalked by a crazy backwoods family!
